Payment for travel at the metro ticket office

Most of the metro ticket offices are equipped with terminals for accepting bank cards. Also, at metro stations, there are machines for replenishing transport tickets and buying tokens, which accept bank cards for payment. The equipment of stations with terminals and machines reaches 100%, so payment for travel in the metro by credit card is available to all passengers regardless of the route chosen.

Payment for travel through the turnstile

Large-scale work is underway to install specialized turnstiles at metro stations with the ability to pay for travel by bank cards. The project is being implemented jointly with banks VTB 24, Gazprombank and Sberbank. The service is available to all owners of Mastercard PayPass and Visa payWave cards. Payment for passage through the turnstile with a bank card occurs instantly - it is enough to attach the card to the reading terminal (validator) marked with a special sticker and hold it until a permission signal appears. The cost of one trip will be automatically debited from the account, and the passenger will be able to pass through the turnstile. To prevent repeated debits, the possibility of passing through the turnstile will be blocked for seven minutes.

One-touch fare is available in the subways of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Kazan and Nizhny Novgorod. The price does not depend on the method of payment - a single tariff is applied for trips paid for at the terminal and purchased at the box office.

When paying with a Mastercard PayPass card, the history of passing the turnstiles can be found in the passenger's personal account. Account replenishment is also available there.

Bank cards with transport applications

For metro passengers, there are several options for bank cards combined with a transport ticket:

  • with the Express Card application;

  • with the application "Travel card".

Express Card allows you to pay for the metro by credit card without purchasing a transport ticket. The cost of the trip is written off from the account upon the fact of using the services of the metro, and when calculating the tariffs established for a single trip are applied. The transport application can be blocked at any time at the request of the passenger. "Express Card" is accepted in Moscow, Yekaterinburg and the Republic of Chuvashia. The project is being prepared for launch in Ryazan, Penza and other cities. To issue a card with the Express Card function, you need to contact any of the project partner banks.

Troika bank cards combine the functionality of a full-fledged payment instrument and all the features of the Troika transport card for paying for travel in public transport in Moscow and Moscow region, including recording fixed-cost trips, tariff plans and replenishing the Wallet. The issuers are Sberbank, Russian Standard, Gazprombank and other banks. The transport application can be topped up directly from the card account or in self-service devices.

Bank card "Travel" from the bank "Russian Standard" is used in the subway of St. Petersburg. The application is supplemented with one-time trips at the metro ticket offices or through the "Internet Bank" system and is used to pay for passage through the turnstile with a bank card.

Special bonuses may be offered to cardholders with transport attachments. For example, customers of Russian Standard Bank regularly pay for their purchases with Travel and Travel® + Troika bank cards as a gift to travel on the metro.

Now citizens living in the capital of the Russian Federation can significantly save time by paying for travel in public transport. If it becomes necessary to use a vehicle that appears in the documents as "public", you can pay for the fare using a bank card. This information was provided to the public by the deputy mayor of the city.

Maxim Liksutov said that the Moscow government plans to purchase special devices that allow non-cash travel payments - validators. Previously, special turnstiles were installed in public transport that moved around the capital of the Russian Federation. The authorities felt that the use of validators could significantly save passengers boarding time.

How to pay for travel on Moscow buses with a credit card?

Citizens who prefer to use public transport to move around the capital of the Russian Federation will be pleasantly surprised to learn that contactless fare saves money. The ticket price is 40 rubles, which is 15 rubles less than the price of a regular travel right document.

In order to make the contactless payment procedure, you need to pay attention to your bank card. It should have a special icon that looks like a horizontal wi-fi image. If such an image is available on a bank card, it must be attached to a special device - a validator. Further, funds will be debited without the participation of the card holder. After that, information about the operation status will be displayed on the validator screen.

Problems that may arise when paying for a bus fare with a bank card

Residents and guests of the capital of the Russian Federation may face problems when using the card. In the event that the validator provides a message stating that the card is in the stop list and the passage is prohibited, this means that the person previously used the right of passage without paying for one or more tickets.

Also, a message may appear on the screen of the validator stating a read error. This means that there was a certain failure while retrieving information from the card. To prevent it, you need to repeat the procedure for applying the card and wait for a special signal that appears after depositing funds. If the user reapplies the card by mistake, a special message will appear on the device. In it, the cardholder will be notified that a repeated application procedure has occurred.

On the main routes of land transport in the capital, it will be possible to pay for travel using contactless bank cards and smartphones with Apple Pay, Android Pay and Samsung Pay functions. The project is being implemented by GUP Mosgortrans in cooperation with VTB Bank and Mastercard payment system.

Today the service is already available on trams 6 and 27. In the coming months, the service will appear on a number of routes passing through the city center, as well as near major sports, cultural and entertainment facilities. To do this, new validators will be installed in the transport.

“The project to equip ground public transport with validators with the ability to pay for travel by bank cards is an important step in the development of passenger services. The innovation will significantly improve the convenience of travel for both Muscovites and tourists from other cities and countries. The fare if paid in this way will be 40 rubles - a third cheaper than buying a single ticket from the driver, ”said Evgeny Mikhailov, General Director of the Mosgortrans State Unitary Enterprise.

The new functionality is available for cardholders of several payment systems and customers of various banks, including the project's partner, VTB Bank.

“VTB Group is actively involved in expanding the range of innovative fare payment methods, offering financial services for uninterrupted and convenient service,” said Gurinder Nihal, Head of the Transaction Business Department, VTB Bank Senior Vice President.

To implement the project, new type validators were installed in trams. They are located at the first door. Stickers informing passengers about the possibility of paying for travel by credit card are placed at the entrance to the transport.

We add that you can pay for travel on all Mosgortrans buses, trolleybuses and trams using smartphones with NFC technology - funds are debited from the mobile phone account. In addition, a service for buying travel tickets by bank transfer has been created specifically for residents of other cities who regularly come to Moscow on business.

Tram routes 6 and 27 connect the areas located in the north and north-west of Moscow:

Public transport of the Moscow region has recently been developing by leaps and bounds, keeping up with the capital, and in some ways ahead of it. We recently wrote about. And soon there was information that from March of this year it will be possible to pay for travel in them with contactless bank cards, as well as “virtual” cards on smartphones, and at preferential rates.

A similar payment system was tested on routes to Domodedovo last year, was recognized as successful and should now be extended to all buses near Moscow. However, information on the number of buses already equipped with the necessary terminals varies. According to Mostransavto, at the moment all 4500 buses in the region are equipped with a fare payment system using bank cards. And, being a resident of the Moscow Region Korolyov, I decided to check how this system works in reality.

The entrance to the buses of the Moscow region is organized through the front door

Until now, in all buses in the Moscow Region, a passenger who does not have benefits paid for the fare either in cash to the driver, or with the Strelka transport card, into whose account the amount necessary for the trip had to be paid in advance. I didn’t take the arrow with me on the test trip.

While on the buses of Moscow everywhere, it was suggested to enter the city LiAZ-5292, which drove up to the bus stop, strictly through the front door. I bring my card to the validator, and the turnstile won't let me in. The card is invalid!

It turned out that there was no need to do this, since the validator is designed exclusively for working with tickets and Arrows. According to the driver, I learned that in Korolev, you can pay for travel by card only in "official" minibuses -. Therefore, I had to buy a ticket for 48 rubles.

It was possible to pay for the trip with a bank card only in the minibus

Later I drove through the city and on a minibus. On one of the windows there was a sign telling about the possibility of paying by card, and on the front panel near the driver there was indeed a “card” terminal.

On the glass - information about the possibility of payment by credit card

A slightly surprised driver put my card to him, issued a check, and an SMS came to the phone with the sum of the write-off - 32.92 rubles. When asked whether they often pay for travel in this way, the driver replied that it is very rare, basically everyone uses Arrows.

32 rubles 92 kopecks were debited from the card to Mostransavto's account

So the conclusion from my "test" trips will be the following. For the time being, it is better to have a transport card with you to use public transport: I did not manage to pay for travel by bank cards on buses.

But by the end of the year it should be installed not only by state, but also by official private carriers of the region. And then it will become more convenient to travel by city buses.
